ConfiChat is developed by Rune Berg under Coder’s Follies. This policy describes how the app handles information.

Data on your device

ConfiChat saves app settings, provider configuration, and chat sessions as files on your device. OpenAI and Anthropic API keys are currently stored in the app’s local settings file as plain text; they are not placed in Apple Keychain. Treat device backups and exported settings accordingly. Saved sessions are unencrypted unless you choose the app’s session encryption option.

Connections you choose

When you use OpenAI or Anthropic, the app sends your API key and the prompt, conversation content, and attachments needed for the request directly to that provider. Those providers handle the data under their own terms and privacy policies. When you use Ollama or llama.cpp, the app connects to the model server address you configure, which may be on your device or network. Coder’s Follies does not operate a ConfiChat model relay.

Analytics and support

The app does not include an advertising or analytics SDK. If you open an external link or file a GitHub issue, that website handles information under its own policy. GitHub issues are public; never post API keys or private conversation content there.

Your choices

You can remove saved chat sessions and clear or replace API keys in the app. Deleting the app removes its app container according to your device’s operating system; backups you control may retain copies. You can use a local provider to avoid sending prompts to OpenAI or Anthropic.
